Bay Leaf
- Bay Laurel can be grown indoors in pots, and outdoors as shrubs and also as trees.
- It is a slow growing plant and can reach heights of 59 feet in the conditions are right.
- Although the plant is a tree at heart, it can be kept smaller by pruning the plant or growing it in containers near your vegetable garden.
- The plant grows best in full sun to partial shade
- This tree grows best in average garden soil (loamy, sandy, and even clay), and the soil must be well-draining.
- Bay laurel roots are very shallow, and frequent watering might be necessary during dry spells.
- Water this plant regularly to keep the soil moist but not overly wet, which could cause rot to occur.
- Allow the soil to dry somewhat between waterings but do not let the soil dry out completely
- Mulch topsoil with organic fertilizer and add slow-release fertilizer to the compost during the growing season
